Today, it is probably the most trusted cryptocurrency wallet with hundreds of thousands of users that provides solid security for numerous cryptocurrency assets.
In 2020 Trezor integrated Mercuryo’s on and off-ramp solution to allow its users to buy digital assets securely and easily. Invity, a cryptocurrency comparison platform launched by the team behind Trezor, recently integrated Mercuryo’s services, too.
SatoshiLabs, Trezor, and Invity: A Brief Introduction
Trezor was introduced to the world by SatoshiLabs Group in the summer of 2014. Five years later, the team launched Invity.io — the cryptocurrency comparison tool, with the core team branching off from Trezor employees. The crucial part of Invity’s vision was to educate users and develop a robust understanding of why and how to use all the solutions to their fullest potential.

The entire Satoshilabs Group counts almost 150 people in 5 companies, with over 100 people working for Trezor and 20 people in Invity.io. SatoshiLabs provides products and services to customers globally while the majority of them live in the US, Europe, Australia, Canada, and Japan.
Striving for a permissionless and easy-to-navigate world of crypto, the company aims to popularize crypto for everyone, newbies and experts alike.
Trezor is undoubtedly is SatoshiLabs’ the most famous product. After solving the essential problem of how to safely receive, store, and send bitcoin, the company started looking into other ways to assist customers. The possibility to work with digital assets directly within the Trezor environment seemed like the obvious next step.
Trezor and Invity users consist of a wide range of people, be it OG bitcoin maxis appreciating open-source approach to security or crypto newbies looking for an easy and safe option to start stacking sats. As SatoshiLab puts it, «Every user has a story, and we are doing our best to serve them all.»
Problem to Solve
The majority of crypto-focused platforms eventually face the need for a trustworthy and convenient solution allowing their users to purchase and sell cryptocurrencies. In other words, if you run the most secure wallet in the market aiming to attract more newcomers and make digital assets universally accessible, one day you would want to facilitate an easy way to buy and sell crypto.
Before the first on-ramp API integration, SatoshiLabs only used the links to services promoted in the Trezor wallet. Once the decision to introduce its own on-ramp was made, SatoshiLabs began seeking allies to establish a reliable, long-term partnership.
Why Mercuryo?
Self-custody is one of the fundamental concepts in the crypto space that, sadly, often gets overlooked. The fact that customers could purchase their crypto directly into the custody of their own hardware wallet was the main idea behind the integration of Mercuryo into Trezor Suite.
In fact, Mercuryo was one of Trezor’s first fiat on-ramps partners chosen because of competitive rates and a proven track record. As for Invity, the No KYC under 700 EUR turned out to be a strong selling point. This feature made user onboarding significantly easier, allowing newcomers to get a taste of the crypto world without the necessity to upload their documents for small purchases.
One-click checkout, white-label API, high acceptance rates, wide coverage, as well as various payment methods and local currencies also played a vital role in the decision-making process.
The fiat on-ramp solution provided by Mercuryo enabled Trezor users to buy bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies using credit cards, bank transfers, and other payment methods in the most straightforward way.

The ultimate goal of this collaboration was to provide more fiat on-ramp options to customers, get more supported payment methods, and cover new regions.
Mercuryo’s Solution
Invity’s inbuilt Trezor Suite is a comparison tool for fiat on and off-ramps and exchanges, and it ripped a few major benefits from this integration. The Mercuryo solution uncovered regions, payment methods, options to choose from, and therefore attracted more satisfied customers.
Apart from the smooth onboarding thanks to the No KYC under 700 EUR feature, the seamlessness of the entire process was helped by the API integration. As a result, the user does not need to copy any addresses but verify the address generated by the device with the address subsequently shown in the checkout process.
Being the original hardware wallet, Trezor was designed to secure customers’ crypto assets while keeping their minds at ease. Such balance helped new users feel comfortable. Mercuryo, in turn, made a great addition to this concept due to the wide range of supported fiat currencies and payment methods.
And thanks to Trezor supporting more than just bitcoin, tokens on the ETH blockchain being the most popular altcoins, if Mercuryo adds more options, they can be provided in Trezor via Invity. This gives proactive customers more options to expand their cryptocurrency portfolio easily via Mercuryo, while keeping it secure in Trezor.
How Did Mercuryo Do It
The integration was primarily managed by Invity’s server, which functions like a gatekeeper and interprets API calls from partners, including Mercuryo, for applications like Invity.io or Trezor Suite.
Each partner’s API is specific to them, and hence the server translates those responses for applications into which the company manages the integrations. This approach also assures that the data flowing into Trezor Suite is sanitized and under its own control.
It also ensures that downtimes, errors, or unexpected API responses will not cause any issues to other services in Trezor Suite. At the same time, it gives us control over uptime, updates, and other upgrades to integrations, without needing to push a client-side update of the app.
End Result
By integrating Mercuryo’s solution, Trezor and Invity received an easy-to-use, one-click widget providing global coverage. The results of this cooperation have been fairly stable, with Mercuryo slowly increasing its volume share over time.
When describing the outcome of the partnership, Bach Nguyen, Invity’s Chief Business Officer, points out, ‘In Invity, we believe that cryptocurrencies are for everyone — whether you are seasoned, inexperienced, rich, or soon-to-be-rich, you deserve to make informed decisions about your future. That’s where our cooperation with Mercuryo comes into play — just as the Trezor integration offers robust security, Mercuryo complements it with its non-KYC, user-first approach. It is this philosophy that makes them one of our most valued partners.’
